Around 3.5 hours south of Perth, The Margaret River region is
best-known for the quality of its wines and vineyard
restaurants. There are about 90 vineyards with cellardoor sales
open to the public for tastings and over 110 grape producers.
In addition, to its
wines, Margaret River is home to Boutique breweries, cheese
factories, a marron farm, olive groves and even chocolate and
fudge factories. Combine this smorgasbord of gastronomic
experiences with an immense array of art and craft galleries,
and no visitor need leave unsatisfied.
Apart from wine
and food, Margaret River is famed for its rugged coastline,
pristine surf beaches, pockets of karri forest and a multitude
of bush and coastal walk trails, like the Cape to Cape walk.
Outdoor activities that can be enjoyed include canoeing,
rock-climbing, abseiling, whale-watching, caving and, of course,
fishing.
